Living the vision of SOMCAN through volunteerism.
SOMCAN relies on the time, energy and talent of its diverse set of volunteers to spread the mission and strategies of the organization. There are a number of ways to get involved, all of which are essential to the success of SOMCAN in the quest for social and economic justice for the SoMa community.
Volunteer
SOMCAN offers volunteers the unique opportunity to connect with the residents of SoMa and make real changes on a local, neighborhood level. Throughout the year SOMCAN has a wide-range of volunteer opportunities such as:
- Supporting community building events such as SoMa Fest, Pasko sa SoMa and others
- Providing office assistance with mailings, database entry and calling residents
- Supporting the programs by offering translation materials or services, calling members and providing childcare and other services
- Supporting campaign and event activities such as setup/cleanup, sign making, cooking, food distribution, childcare and assistance for rallies
