A community health assessment report titled “Our Health, Our Community: A Closer Look at Chronic Disease Among Filipinos in San Francisco” was conducted by SOMCAN in July 2020 among focus neighborhoods of SoMa, Tenderloin, and Excelsior to better understand chronic diseases among Filipinos in San Francisco. Various inputs expressed by the community have highlighted certain topics of interest that members of the community would like to learn more about. With this assessment report, SOMCAN will be more informed with the community’s health and needs, and can drive policy campaigns and strategies to better Filipino health and well-being in San Francisco at a socio-economic level approach. An academic infographic flyer was also designed and translated in both English and Filipino language to serve as the report’s executive academic summary.

Big gratitude to the following academic researchers for building the community assessment report: Ruby Turalba, MPH from San Francisco State University’s Public Health Department, Rebecca Garcia from University of San Francisco’s Master in Public Health Student, and Alyssa Daulat, SOMCAN Health and Wellness Coordinator. r.
