What We Do
Direct Service
Establishing a collective voice is hard to accomplish when residents are faced with common struggles such as evictions, searching for affordable housing, employment and childcare, and discrimination. SOMCAN provides quality-of-life services to alleviate these pressures.
ORGANIZING
Community organizing builds and supports the power of the people directly impacted by the issues being addressed. SOMCAN works with low-income, people of color residents and workers in the neighborhood to effectively communicate and work for community change and sustainability.

SOMCAN has developed a Community Planning Program to ensure that planning and land-use regulations in this quickly shifting SoMa neighborhood maintain diversity and affordability. We ensure that our members are heard in the creation and implementation of the many new area plans in and around SoMa.
