Salo-Salo (Eating Together) Cookbook
SOMCAN launched our monthly Filipino cooking demos in partnership with Kultivate Labs and Balay Kreatives in 2020, with the aim of promoting health and nutrition education while increasing chronic disease prevention among the Filipino community in San Francisco. This cookbook project is a compilation of some of the Filipino recipes we have featured throughout the years of the health program-- FIlipino classics, but transformed and still connected with our traditions! We also want to highlight the work of local Filipino chefs from the Bay Area who are representatives of a diverse FIlipino food and cooking culture connected with our Filipino roots.
We hope this cookbook encourages anyone interested in cooking Filipino foods to recreate the following recipes in their own kitchen whilst learning about health prevention and the Filipino heritage behind the recipes.
