2022 Community Health Ambassador Internship Program

ABOUT THIS PROGRAM

The Community Health Ambassadors is under SOMCAN's "Our Health/Kalusugan, Our Community/Bayan" health program. We are currently looking for 8 MULTIGENERATIONAL, San Francisco, FILIPINO residents to join our THIRD Batch of CHAs!

GENERAL PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
• This is a 24-week, PAID internship program happening from February 28 to July 28, 2022 done per week for 2 hours.
• Each weekly meeting sessions are held for a 2-hour duration and will be done in a HYBRID session (in-person and/or virtual). Certain dates and months will have TWICE A WEEK sessions and ambassadors may need to do an in-person attendance.
• This internship program aims to equip multigenerational Filipino community members with competencies of leadership, community health, outreach and advocacy work of the report finding recommendations found to combat chronic health illnesses (cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and overweight/obesity).
• If ambassadors are needed for certain tasks, they are expected to work independently both at home and outside (if conditions allow and with safe protocols).
• Each ambassador are PAID and will be given stipends/gift card incentives,
• The program hopes to build community capacity and develop skills training and leadership to members. Not only that, we aim to expand health promoting educations and services to priority neighborhoods/community through our ambassadors.
